Assuming the whole lot including P&P is £49.00, I think you add 4% on the total for import duty (£1.96) = £50.96. Then add on 17.5% VAT (£8.92) = £59.88, then add on the Post Offices handling fee of £4.00. Grand total: £63.88, meaning an extra £14.88.

I think this is right, assuming I've understood a previous thread correctly.

The postage is usually free

A little "trick"

Try addressing your DVDs, or anything for that matter, that go over the £18 limit to multiple ppl

i.e.

Mr and Mrs ImportDodge and Family

In some cases this will be considered 4 people. So you can take the £18 limit for one person and apply it 4 times

i.e. 4 x 18 is the new limit of the parcel

Not tried this for a while but used to work
Works like alcohol limits, the more people the more you can bring in

Nah.... you have just been lucky. Liability for tax is based solely on the package value; the number of addressees is irrelevant.
