Pioneer 120s picky with DVDR's

Hi All,

Are all pioneer drives picky with DVDR's?
Recently got myself a Pioneer 120s and when i play DVDR's it seems to pause alot, now and i am not sure whether this is down to the player or down to the fact that i have flash the drive with a muilti region firmware, the unit plays fine with the original DVD
can't seem to find the original firmware to flash back to see if that sorts the problem,
has any one any input, or can point me in the direction of the original firmware, there only seems to be one hacked region free firm so can not try another
