Velodyne HGS-10CA sub (clear acrylic box version)

Right my pride and joy is up for sale , the reason I’m selling it is because I start a new IT course at college soon and I don’t have the money to buy a PC, which I’ll need. I wish I could keep on to it, but I can’t see the money coming from anywhere else.

Most of you on this board don’t need any introduction to the Velodyne HGS series II, and if you do I’m sure many people can vouch for the clean and deep bass it pumps out. It was bought from new in August 03, so it’s about 5 months old. Condition is as new and it comes in original box with instructions and IEC power cord. I’ll also throw in an IXOS Y cable and 10m Profigold sub cable if you’re interested. It is of course the LTD edition (hence the CA) see through clear acrylic box version and is one of the best looking subs I have ever seen. Everyone who sees it comments on how cool it is. As you can see below it’s not lacking in the power department and is able to fill rooms easily considering its size. It really is small, basically an 11” cube.

Here’s the specs:

Model Number HGS-10

Amplifier-Class D 1250 watts 3000 watts peak

Woofer 10" forward firing (8" piston diameter)

Voice Coil 3" Dual Tandem push-pull

Excursion 2" maximum

Magnet Structure 310 oz (19.3 lbs)

Cone Multi-layer laminate

High Pass Crossover 80Hz (6dB/octave)

Low Pass Crossover 40Hz-120Hz
(12dB/octave intial, 48dB/octave ultimate)

Anti-Clipping Circuit Yes

Inputs & Outputs Line Level

Frequency Response 20-120Hz ± 3dB

Subsonic Filter 20Hz or 35Hz

Phase 0° or 180°

Auto On/Off Yes

High Gain Servo Yes

Distortion Less than 1%

Weight 45 lbs.

Cabinet (H/W/D) 11.5"x 11"x 11"

When I bought it the velodyne dealer said there were less than 10 in the UK to the best of his knowledge. Not sure how many were made altogether though. He also said the list price was £2950.

I paid £1600 for it and as mentioned before it’s as good as new. I’d rather you came and picked it up, because it weighs 45lb and is quite big when put in the box. If you want me to send it you will have to pay the postage and it will have to be by a well known company, as I don’t want to take any chances. The nearest big city to me is Chichester or Bognor Regis both approx 15 miles away.

If your looking for a small good looking high power sub, then this is definitely the job.
(ps. I’ve attached a pic of it aswell)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m looking for £1000 cash or cheque.

I have to take my hat off to you for selling it to fund your course. I'm sure I would find it difficult.

Good luck with the sale

would you consider swap for a Kef TDM45B THX sub, a reasonable spec PC & some cash?

Sorry mate i can't, i need as much cash as i can get because i gotta fund my course aswell. Having to sell the rest of my setup after the sub and make do with a stereo system.
(or i could start a "send bassline@ddict to college" fund, if every member gave 10p that would be £2100. Should just about cover it )

Cheers 4 the offer though.

what sort of PC are you after - got to take pity on you mate! Much as i'd love the Sub, the Mrs would never go for it - if you just want a fairly basic PC for college stuff, let me know and i'll see if i can help - then whatever cash you raise you can use at college.

was at uni not so long ago myself - no id have appreciated the help...

Mods - If Ok, happy to take this to PM. Assume its ok as i have no interest in the sub... well, i do - but the mrs doesn't

Right i've lowered the price to £1000. I can't go any lower than this so if there's no interest in the next few days, i will have to take it off.

Come on people, this is a monster sub.
