Red face Plasma Calibration

I've just bought a Samsung PPM42S3 plasma screen; I've connected my DVD using high quality Component video cable, and my freeview box using a high quality S video cables.

However when watching TV or DVD the skin tones on certain programs looks funny, and really let the picture quality down.

I’ve changed the contrast, brightness, sharpness, and colour but can’t seem to get rid of the problem. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I have the older version of this screen and notice a similar problem especially on close-up shots (although not so much with DVD it has to be said).

I have tried re-calibrating the panel using Joe Kane's Digital Video Essentials (the PAL version of which, is now available from Amazon etc.) and noticed some improvement.

I also find that keeping the colour saturation low (around the 40 mark) and the colour temprature on Cool1 reduces this problem for my RGB feed from a freeview box.

I hope this helps.
