Broadband's finally coming to toilet town

Broadband is finally coming to my town "Looe" on 14th Jan.
Please could someone recommend a broadband ISP and also a modem router.
I will be connecting it to a PC and an Xbox. Also is it worth going for the wireless option? It would be neat not to have to worry about cables but I don't want any loss of performance.
Also It is my wife's birthday on the same day, do you think there is there anyway I can persuade her that she really wants a router as a present?

Cheers Carpet

ISP - Nildram, Zen, Plusnet all have good reports, check www.adslguide.org for comparisons.

Routers, I use a Draytek 2600 which is expensive but bullet proof and very secure. You can get cheaper ones and most are perfectly OK. I just need a good one as my business depends on the connection.

A lot of people give their reccomendations here:
Which Broadband Company would you recommend.

Unless you really need the wireless connection,ie your gonna be wandering round the house with the laptop or your mrs objects to any cables I wouldnt bother, its less reliable and more expensive.

and Im sure your wife would love a rooting, err, sorry I mean router
