Blackout fabric - size made to order

Hello,

Im looking to cover my current projection surface (painted plasterboard wall :god: ) with some blackout fabric. Depending on price, It would be nice if i could cover the entire wall so that 16:9 and 4:3 can both be used without boundaries.

The wall size i want to cover is 2.3Metres by 2.3 metres. As you can imagine, its virtually impossible to find blackout blinds of that size. Ive looked at DRH screens but £140 is a bit too much after buying everything else in this HC room!

Does anyone know where we can get this Blackout fabric that can be bought at this kind of size?

My decorators covered my lounge walls with lining paper which was then painted (Dulux Misty White). The paper was put on horizonatally and I can't detect any joins unless I get really close and examine it very carefully. It gives a really nice surface, but I guess the wall has to be reasonably flat before it's put on.

I've since bought a Sanyo Z2 and it gives a brilliant picture on this surface!

I'm now thinking of painting it with Icestorm paint to see if I can get a better black.

I can't find any other mention of using lining paper on the forum.

you wont find mention of the lining paper because for many it wont be an option. To do it yourself will almost inevitably end up with a bit of a seam..... so you need someone who is a pro (such as you used). There are other issues like this needing the wall to be totally flat..... i tried but my walls are like the alps!

the problem with material of the dimensions you ask is that this isnt a standard width, so you need to find a specialist and this is almost inevitably going to cost you....

I've seen the pro's put up wallpaper where they overlap the paper by about 2 inches & then using a very sharp stanley knife, cut a wavy line through both layers. Peel back & removes excess paper & but paper together for a perfect join, that is near impossible to see due to the wavy line (a straight line is easier to see)
