How's my signal?

I have a Pace Twin Freeview box with a new roof top arial.
I am getting a signal strengh of around 80-88% across all channels

How does this compare?

Picture doesn't seem to freez or break up, but should I expect more? After changing from a loft arial, I did think it might be of a higher strengh then this.

As long as the video and audio is good from all the channels on DTT then there is nothing to get concerned about and over the next few years the signal strengths will only increase so it's future proofed.
It sounds like you were in a pretty good signal area to begin with if you were getting similar strengths from a loft aerial but there are so many variables that could influence the readings you are seeing it's not worth worrying about

40 - 50% signal is usually fine. So 88% is pretty damn good.

In fact it's so good that you *might* get problems if/when the transmitter power is increased. Be prepared to buy an attenuator.

The reason why DTT has such poor coverage is due to running side by side with an analogue service which can not be compromised. As such the digital transmitters run at below optimum power to avoid interference with analogue services however when analogue is abandoned then digital power will be increased and more transmitters/frequencies will become available.


DTT Power Increases

I got my first fv box last week, its the pioneer, from my 8 year old, cheap 18 element aerial i got 92% signal.

Hope it doesnt get anystronger

my dad lives in a city, and is gonna have to get a massive xxxx off aerial which is gonna set him back £150
