Urgen Help 16:9 vs 1:1

Hi

I have a 16:9 projection and I have two manual screen options in my local supplier :

First option :

1:1 screen ----> 2 meters x 2 meters

Second option :

16:9 screen ----> 2 meters x 1.25 meters

( more expensive)

Questions :

1) ok ... I know that I have 16:9 PJ ... but as I have in both screens the same width ( 2 meters ) I suppose that I can use the 1:1 screen to project correctly a source image of 16:9 ... Am I right?

2) Are there any disavantages I should know in buying a 1:1 screen with the same width of a 16:9 screen?

I will mostly watch 16:9 dvd´s ... but the 1:1 screen in much cheaper...

thanks

Edgler

No real difference assuming the screens are the same - same material, gain etc.

The 16/9 screen probably has a black border up top which is always good. Black (absorbant) borders increase perceived contrast.

A masked/bordered 16/9 screen would be preferable but your money/choice.
