Fixed or Electric Screen

Hi Guys,

I am a bit undecided about the make and type of screen that I should go for, a little bit of chat from you guys would be good.

I have a 11.5' room which will be used as a dedicated cinema room. One option is an Ellie fixed screen as these are a great price and it isnt really worth making one yourself. My other option is obviously an electric one. What are the fores and againsts for each one.

Stupid question, presumably the quality of the screen/material will be the same know matter what I get.

What would you go for if you had a dedicated room.

I am very new to this so please be patient.

Chris

Dedicated room I'd have a fixed screen.

If you dont need a retractable screen then get a fixed one. I'd rather have had a fixed screen but it would've got in the way of the window

Thanks Guys,

Do you think the Ellie Vogue fixed is a good 'un to go with either the NEC 1000HT, Panasonic 500 or the Sony HS20.

Thanks

Hi Weirdfish,

Your AV tale on your website sonunds remarkably like mine.

Stll got me 28" Sony TELE, Yamaha 795 Amp, Sony 525 and my beloved 4 Tannoy M3's with Tannoy MC.

I have been agonising over changing my KIT, defiately gonna change the DVD to probably a Denon 2900. But the speakers and the amp very unsure after I had a demo of a Sim2 Domino 20 at sevenoaks Newcastle last week. I was gonna change the speakers for the M&K K Series and this sounds stupid but I didnt think they offered me anymore than my Tannoy's when I heard them and at £1600 and all the equipment they were attached to.

The amp maybe changed for the Denon 3803 (but again unsure). I was gonna buy the Sim but I decided to DEM a Sony HS20 at Global HiFi and again the Sim was not nearly £2000 better if at all. I really enjoyed watch LOTR on the HS20.

Its like a minefield and dont know where I would have got without the guys on here.

It's an amazing resource isnt it

The downside of course is you get caught up with all the enthusiasm. I was looking at upgrading my TV but strayed into the wrong forum....3 weeks later I bought a Z2

Not complaining tho as I was still under the impression that a decent projected image was still out of my reach, how wrong I was.
