Hi all
I am buying the NEC ht1000.My dedicated home cinema room is 2.8m wide and 6.3m long. The seating is 4m from where the tv and my av stuff currently is. What size screen do i need and should it be 16:9 or 4:3?
Cheers

Hmm no relies.
Is the PJ 16:9 if so get the 19:9 screen.
The ration is the screen is distance from screen divided by 1.5.
eg if you sit 12' away then the screen should be 8'. But get this most people seem to buy 7' screens. I checked this out in the Home Cinema special eddition HiLife mag :)

As this is a 4:3 projector, you will first need to decide whether you want a 16:9 screen or a 4:3 screen that should then depend on the size. But as a rule of thumb you could do what petrolhead suggest and use the 1.5 ratio. Use projectorcentral throw calculator to get more of a feel for the size you can go for.

Why 19:9 ?
I'm going to try and build my own screen soon, and I was going to go for a 16:9 ratio. Is there something I should know ?

thanks for the replies. I have now bought the NEC for 2600 pounds inc vat here in Germany. I am not disappointed and I am now just projecting it onto the wall. I think that a 2.4m wide by 1.39m high screen is good enough and will choose 16:9 as only my dvd player willl be connected.
