Recommed Cordless Headphones?

Hello!

Living at home with my parents and brothers, I cant have my music/tv/pc on loud during the evenings and especially late night without disturbing them! I use a set of Technics headphones that came with my stereo at the moment but as my stereo is up high on a shelf I find that the lead gets in the way all the time and is basiclly a nuisance.

Therefore I want to buy some cordless headphones but Im a bit confused as to which I should get. Should I go for IR ones or FM ones?

The "range" of the signal is not important as I will only be using them in a small bedroom. The "comfort" is a big factor as Im yet to find a pair of "over the head" headphones that dont give me a headache! The sound quality is relatively important but sadly the price is a big factor, Im looking to spend about £40.

Can anyone recommend a set?

I believe the IR ones are better but you have to be in line of sight of the sender to hear anything.

I have a set of Philps cordless FM phones, cost about £30 from Dixons. While they're clearly not the last word in fidelity, they still have their place (mostly in the bathroom ;)), and work fairly well within their limitations, especially on fresh alkalines. Can't remember the model no., but they're dark grey, lightweight (:rolleyes:) and compact and worth considering if you really want cordless.

Sennheiser RS65s are okay if you absolutely must have cordless. You can get them for £80 or £90. (Click here (http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_7535.html) for example).

If you could find a second hand pair of the virtually identical RS60s, that might be a bit cheaper.

But these are not even in the same ballpark as the kind of with-cord 'phones you could buy for the same price. That's hardly surprising. You pay for the FM transmitter, FM receiver, modulator, demodulator, rechargeable batteries, battery charger, and portable, battery-powered headphone driving circuitry - it's not surprising that, by the time you've paid for that lot, the 'phones themselves are going to have to be pretty cheap compared with what you could get if all the money were spent on just the 'phones.
