View Full Version : Lost DTS on my AV8 ??
I upgraded the firmware on my AV8 over the weekend to v3 and I now am unable to select DTS as a mode and any DTS disks I try and play do not auto select either ....
Any ideas on what's ahppened or anyone have the same problem ??

Fine on mine with v3.
LOTR DTS sounds very good :)
Have you checked all the connections, not turned DTS off on your DVD player or any other 'silly' mistake?
If not, I'd call your dealer or Arcam support.
Yup all connected ... the co-ax from the DV27 is delivering 5.1 OK, just not DTS ... AFAIK it can't be switched off ... and the flag on the discs worked last week ... all I've done is upgrade the firmware in the AV8 ....
Maybe John or Andy will be along soon - if not I'll give them a ring tomorrow ...
Cheers

You have still got the correct co-ax->source button assignment on the av8, i assume?!
Also, what happens with a DTS track - what does the AV8 show and what do you hear? If the AV8 is failing to decode and the DVD player is actually putting out DTS, nasty sounds should (!) be coming out of the DACS!
Only have the one co-ax source, assigned to dvd and as I said before it is playing the DD 5.1 soundtracks through the co-ax link ...
All that plays are the dd 5.1 soundtracks and as I flip through the sound modes on the fascia the DTS mode has vanished off the list of modes, even when a DTS encoded dvd is playing ...

I don't recall EVER selecting DTS on the AV8 - it just picks it up automatically from the digital input. In fact, there's no point having a manual select option for the digital bitstreams as they are either 'there' and recognised (eg PCM/DD2.0/DD5.1/DTS) or not there at all.
You have selected the DTS track on the DVD player? (stupid question, but its always good to be sure!)
What does the AV8 say if you bring up the 'info' when the DVD player is sending DTS - or does it not realise there is a digital input at all?
well I have powered down the dv7 and the av8 ... disconnected everything, reconnected everything, redownloaded the firmware, played a DTS 'only' dvd (a DTS sampler) ... and ...
it's all fine and now recognises the DTs track on my other dvd's as well ...
bizarre ...
