View Full Version : Does a tab-tensioned screen make a big difference?

The arrival of my Z2 is imminent.

We are planning to get an electric screen.

My husband wants to consider a tab-tensioned screen because he is worried about the threads he has read on several forums about screen ripples.

We can't have a fixed screen because the equipment is in the living room.

I had to plead with him to let us get the projector in the first place. He agreed to buy the screen if I bought the projector and cables.

Now that he is parting with his money he wants to know whether paying the extra for tab-tensioning is really worth it, or do you get the same or different problems.

Umu:clap:
My hubby:confused:

wow.... you best delete that else you'll never hear the end of the attention you get!

I had a manual pull down jobby for 18 months ish (about that anyhow) and it stayed in reasonable shape..... but alot of the time it got left down. I guess it may have only been up and down 100 times whilst i owned it so not huge use. However, it was obviously a bit slack around the edges when i sold it. Not ripples mind you, but it might bother you.

I guess that the decision boils to how long it will be in place. If this is a one off that will be used for the next 10 years..... well then buy the best screen you can. If you are going to be moving and having to change it or something, dont bother.

all the best

You pleaded with you husband to get a projector!!! Let me know if you ever go for a divorce :)

Back to the screen. We use the tab stewart screens at work and although they cost a fair packet. The screens are absolutely flat and a joy to watch. They look like they will last forever as well.
A great screen.
