Are Sony Pictures trying to loose the Columbia Tristar brand?

Sony Pictures own Columbia Tristar - that's common knowlage, but are they trying to loose the Columbia Tristar brand and start using "Sony Pictures" on it's own - promoting the Sony name? I had an email from them today about Terminator 3 DVD, and when I clicked on it, it took me to the Sony Pictures UK website rather than Columbia Tristar as I expected.

There's also the Buena Vista/Disney thing - are they going to start branding everything with the Disney logo like the DVD of Pirates of the Carribean?

Distribution and production are different areas.
Distribution companies can even vary from country to country.

Who produced T3? Warner or Sony? I know it's being distributed by Warner in the US.

*edit* I just realised what I said. T3 was produced by C2 Pictures (the new name for Carloco AFAIK).

Production companies , Production studios and Distribution companies are all different things.

A production company makes the movie , a production studio usually pays for it and a distribution company distributes it.... sometimes all three are the same somethimes all three are totally different.

Carolco are a production company.

Ah, right. And sometimes production and distribution are the same company but under different names...

All sorts of mad nonsense.
You end up with one wing of a production company deciding to go with a different company altogether for distribution because its own distribution wing runs as a completely seperate entity and bills them like any other company so they find they get a cheaper deal if the go for an entirely seperate , sometimes even rival company!

Its mad.

Pirates of the Caribbean was a Disney film. It was well publicised (in America) that this was the first Disney film to get a PG-13 rating in the US. So don't worry, you won't be seeing Pulp Fiction with the Disney logo
