I have some friends in Munich who are coming to England for Xmas, and I wondered what unique titles there are over there that's worth bringing over.

K-19 dts is one of them, but has anyone got this and does it sound much different to the standard DD version?

Is Cypher only available in Germany also? - and more to the point, is it any good?

Are there any other titles which are worth getting?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I want my friends to arrive bearing gifts:grin:

cheers
Matt

How about 5th Element with a DTS-ES soundtrack?

Matt,
I highly recommend K-19.
But beware there are 2 edition available, the 2-disc special edition with English DTS-ES Discreet and DD EX mixes(I own this one) and a 1 disc Edition(this is the same as released in the UK).
As for Fitfth Element ,DTS mix is Matrixed not Discreet(very nice sound though, picture not so nice but Ok.)

Cheers
Maggi

the german 5th element might be good but the pictureisn't that good. might be bette of with R1 SB or maybe the new UKR2 (and cheaper as well) the germanSE is difficult to find for under 30€ (well it was for me)

review of cypher (no idea about the film
http://www.areadvd.de/dvdreviews/cypher.shtml

film, picture and sound are supposed to be good/great
extras weren't available for this review (rental version only)
you will also have DTS but pretty useless as in german.

Goodbye Lenin is a great film and disc (but no english subs)

the german Rush Hour is like the UKR2 disc but has subs for the chinese spoken parts(in english) (very useful EIV idiots)

Lola Rennt with DTS. oh c'mon you don't need subs for that one.

that is all I can think of.
get yourselves some friends from France they might be more useful for DVDs :D

If you are interested in german music may I recommend the following

from PUR a very good band

and of course Herbert Gröne meier with his stunning Mensch:
http://www.areadvd.de/dvdreviews/Herbert_Groenemeyer_Mensch_Live_DVD.shtml in DTS 96/24

and another one:

Evita (Anamorphic WS and 5.1).

AFAIK, it's not available with both the above anywhere other than Germany.
