Advice re component video out

I'm new to this forum, but was pleased to find you all!

I've just bought a Panasonic HT900 Home Cinema system and it has Component Video Out terminals. My TV (Phillips w/s) doesn't have component in, but the usual scart sockets (plus s-video).

which seems to be the one to use for best results. It is quite expensive and I wanted to be really sure before ordering it.

Would using this be the best way to hook up my HC system to the TV or not.

Hi Martin,

I doubt very much that your Philips TV would accept component video on a Scart socket - only Loewe TVs allow this, I believe. You can get a component to Scart RGB converter from www.keene.co.uk - search for code RGB2C. Not cheap at £90, I'm afraid. Hope this helps.

John's advice just a tad too late!

I'm not sure the RGB to component converters will work the other way round, will they? IIRC they are directional - RGB2C means what it says.

Assuming the DVD has a RGB scart out, use that to the TV. Nearly as good as component.

the C2RGB can convert from an RGB input to a component (Y Pb Pr) output, or, at the push of a switch from a component (Y Pb Pr) input to an RGB output

Nifty. At £90 I would say that is cheap, or at least good value. The JS box is £145 and one way only - but it is a top performer. I had the Keene one way box for a while and it was nowhere near as good as the JS.
