keyboards and mice

my pc is going to be in a different room to my plasma. is it possable to run a keyboard and mouse through a wall or would i need to extend the reciever to be in the same room. if this is the case does anybody have any suggestions on what make and model? .also if i did this how would i run another keyboard and mouse set actually at the pc.
