Arcam AVR350 Remote

Any ideas as to how I can stop the remote controlling a Naim pre-amp?

For instance when I press the "mode" button on the remote it alters the mode on the Arcam but it also changes the source on the Naim.

I know they both use the RC5 codes but this is infuriating!!!

Thanks in advance

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

You can change the remote system code that the AVR350 responds to from RC5 System 16 to RC5 System 19. You can then configure the CR80 remote to output RC5 System 19 commands on selction of the 'Aux' key as the source to control.

To change the AVR350 to RC5 system code 19 you need to do the following:

1. Press and hold 'RDS Info' then press 'Preset/Tune' on the front panel. This will put you into the Engineers menu.

2. Using the 'Effect' and 'Mode' buttons to scroll up and down through the menu options go to the 'Zone 1 16*' option. Use the volume control to change this to 'Zone 1 19'

3. Using the 'Effect' and 'Mode' buttons again scroll to the 'Exit' option. Press the 'OK' button to exit this menu.

4. The AVR350 will now only respond to RC6 System 19 commands which should not conflict with the commands from your Naim preamp

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

Here are the instructions to change the CR80 to code 19. Follow these to the letter:

In order to configure the CR80 remote to output the AVR350 commands on code 19 instead of code 16 you need to do the following:

1. Press the 'Aux' source control button near the top of the remote.
2. Press and hold the 'Set' button on the CR80 until the LED blinks twice.
3. Press the numbers '1213'. The LED will blink twice.
4. Press the 'SET' button to lock in the set-up code.

Press the power button to make sure that the unit is now responding to the new codes.

Many thanks,

Is it the Aux or the Amp in line 1 of the instructions?

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

It is the 'Aux' button at the very top set of 8 buttons of the CR80 remote you need to press.

Once this has been done selecting the 'Aux' key on the remote will control the AVr350 with the other set of commands. From this point onwards treat the 'Aux' key as the replacement for the 'Amp key.

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

Thanks for the reply.

I have done the above sequence.

However, upon pressing the AUX button it will not control the AVR350.

Pressing the AMP button still controls both amps.

I have had a search on the 'net and found the above info too. However it is for the AV8. Is it valid for the AVR350 too. I'd try it and see but I don't want to "break anything". I've only had the AVR for a few days!!

And, by the way so far I am very impressed. Coming from the CA540 it is very refined. The surround experience is now "as a whole" rather than listening to 5 separate channels. The detail and sharpness of the sound is there to hear too.

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

Yes it is valid for the AVR350. I have done it several times myself and it works fine.

You need to follow both the instructions I have in posted 2 & 3 for it to work. If you are at all unsure then take it to your dealer and get someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you.

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

Using the process the first process (on the amp itself not using the remote) I have now got the Arcam and the Naim working independently.

Excellent !!!

Many thanks for your advice!!

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

You must have reconfigured the remote already then. Using the 'Aux' key to control the AVR350 not all functions that were previously available will work but most will.

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

Yes I have noticed that all the functions don't work now i.e. the mode function.

However, it was the volume interference that was the main issue. Even though the Naim NAC has a unity gain on the AV input changing the volume on the Arcam changed it on the Naim. So when I went back to a CD I had to check the volume on the Naim to see where it was prior to playing it. Now whatever the CD volume was on the Naim is the same regardless of what I had been doing with the Arcam.

Re: Arcam AVR350 Remote

Thanks for that,

I forgot the name and also the price!!

I am after something to "replace" a Sky HD remote/turn a JVC LCD on and off/ and turn a 350 on and off and work the volume.

Basically a simplish remote with a touch screen and macros to control the above. I guess I will need macros so as when I press the on and off it turns all 3 things on and off at the same.
The "coloured" buttons on the SkyHD replicated would be nice too!!

Anyone know how to do this on an AVR600?

I am getting clashes with my Linn remote for my Majik DS.

Thanks

Graham
