Arcam Avr300-Problem with MUTE button on face plate

It's the first time I own a Arcam product. The Avr300 is from ebay as a secondhand unit. I am happy with the sound in stereo as well surround through the avr300. However I have to admit that I got a small problem with the Mute button on the face plate of avr300. I don't know the reason but the Mute button seems get stuck tightly (it doesn't response a tick when you push in it whereas the other buttons do). Consequently, the Arcam itself does the action to go Mute and go back sometimes and when it happens, no buttons on the face plate could be used to operate the avr300.

Additional, In my case, I don't have the Arcam remote then all operations I have to go through the buttons on the face plate.

So anyone out there could help to fix my problem or a suggestion to repair the Mute button.
It's much appreciate.

Pretty well any universal remote can control your AVR300, so just get yourself one. It will probably work out cheaper than getting the button fixed.

Hi Mark, thanks lots for your advice.

I am going to offer a Universal remote as you said. It would do a great job.

However, I actually still need to fix the Mute button. The main problem here due to the button get stuck, The Arcam automatically get mute and even the Arcam has sound again immediately. I'm not sure when it will happen but it repeat by the time. So now would I open the Arcam's case and its faceplate to take the button fixed? Please give me some more advices. Many thanks

Cant be any harm to take it apart and have a look to see if there is anything obvious causing the button to stick - like spilt coffee.

The AVR300 service manual can be downloaded from here. The assembly you want is shown on page 17.

I did an inquiry a couple years ago about replacing my black avr300 faceplate with a silver one. This information may be useful if you want to replace the faceplate. Here is an excerpt of the email I received from Arcam:

"Hi Nick,

Yes we can supply the parts for you the AVR faceplate is priced at £40+ vat but you would also need the top cover which is priced at £35 + vat to complete the Silver finish.
The CR415 is obsolete but the CR515 is the replacement and available at £25.

To order the parts please phone the spares department (UK orders only) on 01223 203200 and we will process the order and payment for you."

Nick,
Your info is also great. I would have a thought about the Arcam's replacement after all.
