P.S. Why would anyone wanna discuss the Oppo BDP93 in an Arcam owners thread? :-)

The BDP100 is a great player. Best witnessed with a home demo.....but then, I would say that!
Are you saying that get a working 24p mode on the BDP100 you need to buy the 3D hardware upgrade? I'm glad I ordered a '93 myself as this Arcam is turning into a joke IMHO. While there is an owners thread for the '93 but I think it's still relevant to mention it as a much more viable alternative for half the price (maybe a third of the price if you do have to buy the 3D upgrade to get 24p working and the '93 already has 3D included anyway).

I think part of the issue is the AVR600 and that's with any player that outputs 23.976hz material including the Oppo. The AVR600 doesn't allow pass-through or appear to support 23.976hz output which is the majority of Blu-ray film titles. Thus it converts 23.976hz to 24.00hz which causes a timing stutter after a certain number of frames. The fix for this appear to be a new video board in the AVR600 that also support 3D.

Avi

As AVI has confirmed, the 24p issue is with the Pixel Works chipset in the AVR. The BDP100 will output 24p currently.

Sorry smartie, but this is not quite correct the bdp has serious issues out putting 24p framerate!!!

I have given up passing video through my AVR600. This is not such a bad thing ,since a direct connection to a display will provide the purest video signal path. The problem is that with the BDP100, there is only one HDMI out. If the user wants HD audio, there is no choice but to route the audio and video via the AVR.

The solution of course is a player with two HDMI outputs.....easy. Why on earth didn't they do this for the BDP100?

Probably because Broadcom didn't include it in the reference design!

Well, yes it has issues but they are being sorted in a firmware update as far as I know rather than any hardware upgrade.

Exciting news.

Firmware on it's way shortly as it's been officially released. Contact your dealers for more information.

Not sure if it's an online release. Hopefully will be.
