Want to buy Arcam AVR-350, but some questions..

Hello,

I really need to buy new receiver for my new paradigm reference speakers!

My Arcam retailer tells me that Arcam AVRs are upgradable. How modular are the internal avr-350 components?

If HDMI1.3 comes out, can HDMI 1.1 circuit board be upgraded?

Also, if I want AVR-350 to process DVD-A and SACD digital signal from a DVD player, which connectivity will allow it? Is it even possible? If not, can this be possible in future with upgrade?

Thank you

They are upgradeable in the software sense and nothing else. The internal components on the AVR350 are not modualar as far as I'm aware.

I very much doubt it.

The AVR350 cannot process SACD or DVD-A information, it can however accept already decoded audio from these formats via its multi-channel inputs.

I went from a AVR300 to the AVP700+P1000 and have enjoyed every moment. If you have the oportunity that is the route to go. I have the B&W 805s and they sound Great!

@up4golf2,

Sorry with the set AVP700+P1000 & dvddo you go from dvd via hdmi direct to
"plasma" or is better via the pre/amp and dann to the plasma?

(normal i go from dvd to plasma via component/hdmi... and not dvd to recevier and dann to plasma)

Re: Want to buy Arcam AVR-350, but some questions..

Right now I am going from the DVD to the receiver via HDMI. I will be trying a striaght to the Television with a HDMI connection soon. I did the same test with the AVR300 and there was really no difference that I could tell. I do know that I am getting a Great Picture currently, but as alway's there is that little bug in the back of my mind, saying there is a better picture some where, lets try.
