Apple TV

Hi... Tried searching all the threads, for a discussion regards:-
Apple TV periodically turns itself on without any intervention from myself.
I turn it off (Sleep mode) in the normal way.

Any reasons why it should be doing this?

Thx
Keith

It is well known for doing this - it goes into a state where it's not sending a signal to the TV, yet the light is on and the box gets very slightly warm. For me it seems to be a IR signal setting it into this state.

As I undertand it, the ATV2 always uses very little power and the sleep mode does little more than turning off the light (and no signal is sent to the display), and it's like 3w power against 5w when it's on. Or something like that.

The power supply in the ATV is 6w, so negligible power drain when left on, let alone once the screen is off and it has been put in sleep mode first.
