Almost. The AEBS and AE link to the Time Capsule wirelessly, providing Ethernet ports where needed. The TC connects to the Super Hub (in modem only mode) and provides all the DHCP and routing functions.

Only the Airport Express is new, the rest I had already.

Even Blu Rays "only" stream at something like a 40Mbps bit rate.

In the downstairs part of the network, the only bit I was bothered about speed was for the Sky HD box and Anytime+ (and the ATV2, to an extent). The Bluray player only uses its network connection for firmware updates and any extra content (although as I've got older, I tend to just watch the films now, rather than going through every single extra).

My comment about the Airport Express only having a 10/100 Ethernet port is that as a network bridging device it's great, but with the wifi being faster than the Ethernet port, I could see it being a hindrance for people wanting to bridge computer networks - the AEBS is much better in this respect and not that much more expensive. Maybe it's due an overhaul?

On a different note, I think my next purchase will be an ATV3, so I can move the ATV2 to the bedroom and retire the ATV1 I have there.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

My BluRay ISOs (circa 50gb in size and ripped from the original disk) stream at circa 40Mbps, so the point I was (badly!) making was that iPlayer should be absolutely fine over 100Mbps HPlugs (subject to decent wiring etc).

Yep, undoubtedly. In fairness, I didn't consider those , as I was thinking about the wifi network I already had. Having successfully bridged the AEBS to it the logical option for the single Ethernet port I needed was the Airport Express.

Seriously considering getting an iMac. I have the white 13" MacBook but running low on disk space and battery on its way out and they cost silly money.

Your call on the new purchase, but you could revitalise your MacBook by installing the SSD and a new battery. The difference is very noticeable and will cost you around £200 or so all in. Of course it won't support Mountain Lion unfortunately.

Really? Thats interesting, is it quite an easy task for someone not particularly techie in the computer building field?

Have you upgraded the RAM yourself on this model? If so, the hard drive upgrade is barely any more in depth hardware wise. Obviously you need to either clone your current hard drive or install OS X on your new drive fresh. If you get an enclosure for the old drive you can use it to copy data back to the new drive and then use it for backups later on too.

Yes I did upgrade the RAM. I don't know what you mean by an enclosure though, or how I would clone a drive? It's probably easier than it sounds I'm just not that up with computer talk :-)

An enclosure is simply a box to put your old HDD in thereby protecting it and making it an external drive.

My last official purchase was the latest MacBook Pro 13inch which I LOVE.

Last purchase for my apple devices was a Pro Tools keyboard skin from KB Covers. All colour coded with shortcuts written on. Will really speed my editing! Still waiting on it from America!

It looks to fit my small apple Bluetooth keyboard too which is great as I basically get a 2 for 1 haha so can carry the skin to the studio when needed

Really impressed with the Battery Charger in fairness. I was using brand new rechargeable batteries in a brand new charger. They are tidy sized Duracell 2450mAh and Uniross 2700mAh batteries too, but when used in my wireless trackpad and keyboard the widget only showed them as being 60% charged at best after charging all night and the LED showing them as fully charged.

Anyway, stuck the new batteries that come with the Apple charger on charge and replaced them in the trackpad and the battery level is full which I have not seen before.

Tried charging the Duracell's that came out of the trackpad and tested those back in the trackpad and get 100% too. Points at a faulty initial non-Apple charger, or could it be that the charger is not capable of charging such a high powered battery?

Really pleased with the new batteries and charger though, especially for £22 with 6 batteries included.

The thing I am impressed with the most is that you can actually charge a single battery in this thing, which I have never seen possible before, and it's barely bigger than a plug and the 2 batteries you charge in it!

How sad am I, that this thing has impressed so much!?! :-)

I looked at both of those yesterday. Wireless inductive charger was a bit pricey for me considering I would need 2 with keyboard and trackpad. Nice gift though!

For a nano in replacement for my 1st Gen that was recalled. Fancied the wrist strap, but stopped myself for now in favour of the battery charger. Let us know how you get on once you have found a nano.

Will do!

I'm wondering if there's a refresh on the horizon, weird how 2 tesco, 3 Argos and a huge asda have nothing at all.

Do fancy it as a bit of a watch
