Broken ethernet on powermac g4 mdd:(

I'm not sure how, but the ethernet port on my mac has been broken I know I could buy an airport car and go wireless, but I would much prefer to use ethernet as the mac sits next to my router.

My question is, would it be possible to just buy a pci ethernet card from pc world or am i gonna have to look for an official/specialist pci card as all the cards I've seen state they're windows compatible but not osx

Please help

Cool Re: Broken ethernet on powermac g4 mdd:(

here read this site -

OS X PCI Ethernet Card Compatibility reports

the first one mention intel pro 1000 is what i used in a G4 MDD,
worked perfectly no problems,
think i paid around 10quid for the card of ebay,

here quick search of ebay -

NEW - PCI Gigabit Ethernet Card for Apple Mac G3/G4/G5 on eBay, also, Components, Apple Macintosh, Computing (end time 06-Apr-09 10:25:29 BST)

also there is a apple usb to Ethernet adapter,
but i have never used it so cant comment on that....

i used a belkin pci card,
which had firewire and usb2 ports,

you can pick them up for 20/30quid and there work really good,

i didn't have bluetooth in my G4 MDD so as the belkin firewire/usb card was very useful,
it has a internal usb port to which i plug my bluetooth usb stick to and had instant internal bluetooth,

only thing it need extra power supply through molex,
but this isnt a problem you can get a molex extension lead,
and use the molex power port from the secondary hard drive bay(under the dvd drive)...

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but i recently bought a really cheap £2 usb bluetooth dongle from ebay. I plugged it in and it found my apple wireless mouse straight away but never sucessfully connected though in system profiler it stated it was paired.

Anyway, I'd like some suggestions for alternative dongles which you have gotten to work with no problems on an old g4 mac
