I have always brought tubs off 50/100 Datawrite DVD-R 'Yellow' x8 speed for burning without any problems, cant really think off any fails


Only recently i purchased Datawrite TITANIUM 'VX2' 8x DVD-R. As the Yellow were out off stock. The Titantium were rubbish on my intel imac, had so many fails



I was going to get the Yellow discs, until on one site a user has written below, and now im not sure if other sites pose a similar problem.

I brought these dics based on the fact SVP stated them as having a dye of MCC 03RG20 which I used for several years now with great success. However when I received them they were CMC MAG. AM3 - shame on you SVP

How can you tell if Blank dvds will work, and what dye is on them
or is there recognized blank dvd brand/make - for intel imacs...

I've had problems with more expensive brands in my iMac too. SVP have a very cheap ritec dye brand called Pi Data and they are by far the best and burn faster than any other type I've tried.

I've been using Verbatim AZO disks for over a year now and have had zero failures

Taiyo Yuden. Verbatim as above.

A word about Sony - in a pack of 5 or 10 I always get one dodgy disc, but for the others they work just fine I have discs from years ago which still work

I highly recommend Verbatim, it's the only brand I buy for CDs and DVDs.

Although, I did get some Panasonic DVD-R discs with Taiyo Yuden dye a while back which was great.
