Switiching from PC > Mac, transfering files..?

Is there an easy way to switch all my mp3's and files to my new Mac without using a pendrive or something? Cheers!

connect the two with an Ethernet cable, set up sharing on your pc then log into the samba server from your mac. If you go to mac.com there is a section about switching that goes into more detail

Or whack them on a USB hard drive (should have one for backups anyway). Mac will read ntfs ok but if you want to write to it, format as fat32

itunes and iphoto both are a breeze to transfer. Just use the import function on both. Only minor issue I found with my ipod is that I had to reformat the ipod and retransfer my library (60gb!) but it does all this for you.

Re: Switiching from PC > Mac, transfering files..?

Import would probably be the easiest way as above. If you want to connect to the PC and drag the music manually though:

Switch on Windows file sharing on your Mac too. You may find it easier to fix the IP addresses on the 2 devices as well, then just hold down the Apple key and press K, which will bring up the map network drive prompt.

Type in smb://pc fixed ip address here

then press enter and it will show a list of the shares on your PC. Just share the music folder would be the easiest.

If your sticking with Macs download MacDrive. It allows windows to read/write to the HFS+ file system without any file size restrictions.

I've just transfered nearly 500gb of data to an external HD and it was very easy [although a quite long process...]
