Good software to go with macbook air superdrive

I have just bought a MacBook air SuperDrive to play dvd's on my mac mini. I use plex to watch data files but I need a good program to use when watching DVDs. Can anyone suggest a good program i can use to watch dvds? If its free, even better. I have vlc loaded but I don't like to use it for DVDs.

Also are there any program's around that allow me to play dvd's from other regions?

QuickTime? Out of interest what don't you like about VLC for DVD's?

Try this link and have a scroll through the similar software suggestions for some alternatives, the first on the list (perian) is quite popular:

Download VLC Media Player for Mac - Popular multimedia player. MacUpdate.com

Thanks. I don't think the volume control is responsive enough. Also the sort/find slider is too short. I much prefer windows movie player as that goes across the whole screen and allows for a more accurate search. I also think it is much to slow to load movies.

I don't like wmp for DVDs either. I used to use powerdvd but that to was a slow and clunky program.

Don't you have DVD player installed by apple?

Fair mount may or may not work for you to play other regions.

It is called DVD player maybe it doesn't come with SuperDrive less machines. Lol I've never looked for it on my MBA. But have it on all other machines.

I just checked my MacMini 2011 and it has the Apple DVD player on it although it has no DVD drive.
Have you tried VLC 2 which has recently been released with a much changed UI and lots of added tweaks?

I just checked my MBA, and it definitely comes with the app named "DVD Player". That works just fine

I had a look and it doesn't have any of those programs but I will download the DVD app. Vlc (I am assuming its 2 as it was downloaded recently) is terrible.

Are you sure it doesn't have DVD Player? I would contact Apple regarding that, as it is standard on every Mac. Well it used to be when I bought my MBA, and even my Mini Server has got it installed.

Just press cmd(apple)+spacebar and type DVD Player in spotlight and it should be there.

I have not got a keyboard attached. I use air mouse. Would it be in apps. I see quick time but no DVD player.

It's in apps on 10.7.3, not utilities.
