iTunes no longer showing in Spotlight?

I've got into the habit of just typing the name of anything I want to launch into Spotlight. So when I want to launch iTunes, I just ⌘+Space to open Spotlight, then type in the app name I want to launch.

Strangely tho, the last few days, the iTunes app hasn't shown up in Spotlight's result;

Normally, it shows up as Top Hit and under Applications. The app is definitely in my applications folder, and iTunes starts and runs fine from both the applications folder and from the dock icon.

I'm sure this only happened after the last iTunes update, but I could be wrong

Going to be extremely vague but can you check the spotlight search preferences and see whether iTunes is still checked?

I don't use spotlight but I am certain you can select what you want it to search.

Just checked it - iTunes isn't excluded from the search

I take it applications are ticked to be included in a search?

If you head back into the spotlight search, second tab of 'privacy' is there anything in there?

I just checked my spotlight search and iTunes popped up right away. I'm also running the latest software.

Yes to Applications included in search, and no to Privacy (thats what I checked when I said iTunes isn't excluded from the search)

Well, I don't have a clue then. Best of luck sorting it out.

Fixed - Googled it (why didn't I do that sooner?) and found a page on the Apple forum where someone was having a similar problem, and advice was to type

sudo arch -i386 mdimport /Applications

into terminal. Did that and now iTunes is showing up!

However, now when I try to quit Terminal, I get a warning saying quitting will terminate running processes (bash, mdimport, etc)

Just give it a chance to finish, it's reindexing all your applications.
