For anyone that wants to know if their MacBook pro (or any other device running off of a Nvidia MCP79 chipset) will support and utilise faster RAM than the stock 8500 then yes it will.

After looking at the specs for the actual chipset from Nvidia it does indeed support and utilise faster RAM, which is cheaper as well.

Stuck 8GB of the stuff in my MBP Mid 2009 13" and it works fine, even have more bandwidth according to Xbench.

Does it show, on About This Mac, that the memory is clocked at 1066MHz or 1333MHz?

It shows on about this mac and it is clocked at 1333mhz.

The chipset does support it according to the white paper by Nvidia.

Ill post a screenshot when i get home.

If the use of a DDR3-1333 memory on a (rated) DDR3-1066 system works, then the speed boost is well worth having *if* there is no marked increase in temperature. Great tip!

Temp is the same as it always has been using temp monitor. Sensor info hasn't changed at all.

Chips are a pair of kingston chips as well.
