VLC question

mini mac is downstairs connected via wireless to upstairs computer, when I play a mp3 or Divx film on the mini mac over the network from upstairs with VLC it can never keep up and shutters badly, all play ok when played with Quicktime over the network, but would prefer to use VLC,
are there any VLC settings I can play with ?.

Re: VLC question

wired works ok
it just does not want to buffer any files you play from network like QTime does
