Android 4.1 Jellybean feature summary video

This doesn't cover everything, but it's a pretty good round-up: -

The big omission in this video is the Siri-type functionality that they showed off.

I bet the manufacturers that have just upgraded their handsets from 2.x to ics are happy!!

Will be interesting to see who commits first. I guess it will probably restricted to those handsets that were released with ics initially.

Although I am guess the jump from 4.0 won't be as great

Looks like those who are waiting for ICS are even more behind the times now. Samsung is taking forever with the updates, and now that Jellybean is out, the other devices who were not Flagship devices might have to wait even more as they focus their resources to updating the flagship ones to Jelly Bean... Not that I don't welcome the update, but it is just frustrating for a whole lot of people.

Samsung confirmed on Twitter that the S3 will get Jellybean in Q3 2012, so some time between July and September. The first phones to get it will be the Motorola Xoom, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S in July.

A lot quicker than the S2 got ICS then. Jelly Bean seems more of a refinement than a revolutionary update which probably explains why. Need developers to keep pace with JB roll out, or catch up in Sky Go's case. Enjoying the tweaks to G+, YouTube and play movies amongst others that have come through already.

Like I said, they will focus on the flagship phones first and again temporarily abandon development for the other phones for a while, which means longer wait time again for some devices who were promised an ICS update. -_-

I agree, this update looks more like a jump from froyo to gingerbread. hopefully I won't be as difficult to port.

I believe Samsung have said no Jelly Bean for the Samsung S2 due to hardware, which I find as being BS since the Google Galaxy Nexus is able to run Jelly Bean and it has slightly lower specs than the S2!

Indeed, it's more than likely because they'll want you to buy the S3.

I imagine so, it really is a shabby way to treat customers. Look at how Apple still support the 3GS. In some areas I wish Google were more demanding of developers and OEMs.

Apple are just as bad. They purposefully make the best features available to the newest hardware, even if older hardware can run it.

I guess this is just the way it'll be from now on. At least Android is open source and the great people on XDA Developers make some great ROMs so I'm sure we'll get 4.1 on the S2 at some point.

It makes no sense to delay the S3 from getting JB until 3rd quarter :-( the S3 is a bit laggy and definitely could use this update asap!

Of all the vids and details I have seen and read the S3 beats the One X and I have always liked the HTC brand.

Well I wouldn't be too fast to believe the rumours - like others said, this is pretty much just a polished ICS with Google Now and Project Butter (UI smoothness).

If it is true, it is outrageous though as the Nexus S will get it, and thats actually pretty much a Galaxy S (1) !!!

That said I'm sure my next phone will be the next Nexus, whatever that may be (if of course they make another, their previous Nexus phones haven't exactly been a roaring success in the sales).
