Likewise. It's disappointing as a Sky subscriber and owner of a new handset to see support go elsewhere first. Presumably good business reasons but sucks to be part of the group left out plus taints any positive PR with the negative comments being posted on articles / market. Fingers crossed for that rapid roll out!

On the bright side, good to see Sky One added to the service.

Doesn't make sense that older devices work and the newest ones don't.

Couldn't find the app on my phone but managed to install via the browser and seems to be working well on my Galaxy S2

Got it on my galaxy S2 and it's great. A bit blurry to begin with but sharpens up after a few seconds.

Can't use it on my S2 yet as I'm running ICS, but it works very well on my wifes Desire S. As said its a bit pixilated for the first few seconds but after that its very good.

The whole roll out of Android's Sky Go is a farce, seems like only 7 handsets are supported, and even if you have a supported phone, it's rooted... you will just get sky news, nothing else will work.

Spent some time on XDA forums last night and they have a version of the app there that seems to get round the "unsupported device" issue, but it's hit or miss weather it gives you all channels or not.

I got it installed on my Galaxy Tab7 and it work, of a fashion. the first few times you play the sound is out of sync and the video is ... well, remember realplayer back in the days of dial up? lol... it does appear to sort itself out and ups the bitrate after a while but it certainly doesn't feel like a well polished product.

There have been a few folks pushing for answers on the sky go forums, but this appears to have resulted in sky sticking their fingers in their ears and going lah lah lah... not listening.

Cheers. Grabbed the test APK off XDA and have it working on my unrooted Galaxy Nexus. Shame these things have to be hacked rather than work out of the box for all devices.

Yeah, sky seem to have hampered it from the start for some reason, but i think they have underestimated the android support and the backlash from those they have locked out. I'm sure it wont take long before some enterprising soul gets round the rooted device issue.

The test apk appears gets round a majority of the "incompatible issues" but it appears from what i've read on xda that it checks more than just if the device is rooted, if checks rom version and possibly the kernal.

Sky seem to have gone to town with this one, it should be advertised as very limited android support...

Got it working fine on my unrooted Galaxy note

if you installed Skys own download version on unsupported phones it wont work

to get it working uninstall completly the sky version

download the test version from XDA and copy it to a folder on your phone and the install it from the folder you copied it to
hey presto working like a champ on mine now a bit of buffering for about the first 10 seconds then the picture snaps into clarity job done
and remember you can only use it on two devices
although there is now a hack for that as well

Working very well indeed on my SGS2. From what I understand, it doesn't work on the newer (NFC enabled?) SGS2s so that's a shame.

Need more channels and the two device limit is laughable -- in this day and age??? Surely they need to limit to two simultaneous streams. I can see why they haven't done this; they charge a premium for Multiroom which I believe should be free. Again, in this day and age it makes no sense to limit CONTENT to one device when our lives are filled with digital and media enabled devices. This is an old fashioned model and they're milking it. So many pay ridiculous subscription fees north of 60 so I don't see them being quick to change.

was reading a thread on XDA about it not really a hack but instructions of how to add more than two devices - I read it but as it does not apply to me I did not bother bookmarking it
apparently it works for some and not for others!!

to have more than 2 devices just create more sky accounts and link them to your mail account.

@Serpico

Check out post #606 on the Sky Go thread on XDA if you haven't already.

(PS. is it ok to link to XDA around in here? Had a few links to other forums removed in the past.)

Over on XDA which APK do you need to download for non supported phones? The one in the first post or the one in post 129?

Been enjoying sky go on my 4s for a while now, works flawlessly, I use a friends login as he don't use web services and has access to all the chans available for it, brilliant stuff.

Some people are mad paying £70 a month for sky though :-o
