This doesn't make any sense.

I tried scanning the QR code and it comes up saying 'Not Found: The Requested item could not be found"

EDIT: Apparently it's to do with the resolution of the screen. If the developer doesn't sign it off as working as that resolution then it doesn't show in the marketplace.

Does Flixster give you access to good ratings and reviews? The main things I use IMDB for is checking actors, checking film overall ratings and links to reviews, which the app does great. How does Flixtser compare?

I've got IMDB and Flixster on mine. Imdb for checking what the actors have been in before. There's always the "I recognise him/her, what have they been in?" or as I had the other day, "Isn't that Alicia Keys?" *Quick phone check* "Yes it is!"

Flixster is good for reviews, finding cinemas, showing times etc.

yes on film ratings, from either flixster or rotten tomatoes. no for checking actors etc.

i use it for cinema times and trailers primarily, based upon your use i suspect imdb will be better, but for me there wasn't enough in the app over and above a quick look at their normal web page

I've only got mine a week, and apologies I didn't read the whole thread yet...But I do really like

Silent Time - No more noise from SMS/Email during a time that you can set your self, for me between 23-7 :-)
HTC IME - Essential keyboard replacement if you haven't got an HTC, nearly as good as the iPhone
Handscent SMS - Much preferred to stock
LauncherPro Beta - Great Home replacement
EStrongs File Explorer - Great tool for doing stuff ;-)
Audio Manager - I like having easy control on volume settings per app
Dropbox - Makes it easy to keep your APK files and install direct from there, great when restoring after a custom rom...

Realising that the London Tube apps I had were well out of date I had a look for something new on the marketplace and found 'London Journey'.

Been playing it for the day and I reckon it must be the best £1.49 I've ever spent. Takes the labyrinthine TfL website, adds GPS functionality, and condenses all the useful features into an extremely intuitive app.

I noticed there was a National Rail app there too. I'm not sure that £5 spent on this would give me much more that directly accessing the website, which works well on the stock browser. Anyone else used it and able to convince me otherwise?

I use the NR app and its lovely. I'm not sure that you get any extra functionality but it is very easy to use. Also there is a really nice widget that shows train times on your home screen.

If you've had issues with the phone reacting to presses while trying to take it out of your pocket when it's ringing, then Proximity Tool could be for you.

You need to download it via a browser and place it on the SD card, you can do this on the phone and it will save it to the download folder on the SD card. You then need to use a file explorer to open the APK file on the phone, such as EStrong. You need to ensure 'Unknown sources' is checked in Settings > Applications to be able to install APK files this way, as opposed to apps obtained from the Market.

Use proximity sensor to disable screen while in pocket - Android Forums

Does anyone use a different keyboard app to the one on their Android phone? Certain phones have bad recognition software, I know I've heard the odd HTC and the X10 phone having this issue. Anyone found an app which makes SMS texting quick and accurate? All I've heard of is BETTER KEYBOARD which is £2.99!

SwiftKey, Swype, & SlideIT. I personally prefer Swype.

Swype is ok if you stay in plain english...gets quite akward when you do anything else I found...

HTC_IME, Droid-X, Smart Keyboard, etc I tried them all and got to say...they all got some serious flaws with them in consistency, in recognition of new words, in speed, in being able to hide or not, in having a next key or not, being able to switch languages or not...It is almost like there is not a single one that can do it all well...

True, but I don't need to worry about languages, so if a keyboard can do plain english flawlessly it can have all the foreign errors it likes! :D I'll have a look at all of those. My worry is that no matter what keyboard I use, it's down to the phone as to the crappy recognition/prediction. Please not!

Just looked at SWYPE - ive heard of this but I'm skeptical on it. How can it possibly know exactly what word I'm typing in my current sentence by running my finger (as X10 has no stylus) over half the keyboard?

Got it on my Galaxy S and it does work at recognising the words best of any of them imho....

Oh for the love of god. It isn't like the whole world is lying to you. How about you try it over the weekend? It does work, I use it all the time, and yes it is a bit freaky how it knows what you want to type. I hardly ever have to correct it.

Plus I look totally badass thumbing my way home

I admit, the reviews for it are nothing but positive! so far. If it's free on Android Market I'll certainly give it a shot, can't be any worse than the standard X10 Android keyboard. It does look funky and I reckon with enough practice I'd get used to it.

The next problem is, how do I get it? For some reason it's not on the Android Market. I heard about a BETA version that closed a while back, but wouldn't it have been rolled out by now?

Singh400 - haha, the whole world can be a devious bunch and aren't always right! :P But I'm going to try it out!
