Re: Samsung HT-TZ215 "protect" problem

Hi I have a Samsung PS42A457P1DXXU plasma and cinema system ht-tz215, I am using the optical out from my sky to the optical in on the sound system, and after about 2 months it developed an intermittent fault, the sound starts to go muffled, it sounds like all the speakers are playing the sound from the sub, (kinda hard to explain) I had only had the system for 2 , Samsung have sold the warranty to the retailer and the repair centre they use have said there is no fault on the system and I should expect "tinny" sound from the optical in. and the retailer (Empire Stores ) will not help.
also when I switch the sound system on it says hello and then after a few seconds it says good bye and turns off.

Hi V Boy,

Yes this is a `known` problem - it is listed in the technical support pages - faq`s on the Samsung website. They advise you there to contact Samsung technical support phone number as the system may need to be repaired.

I have had this problem with 2 different Samsung home cinema sytems. You may be told it has something to do with the fan / speaker cables or ventilation but in both my cases it was none of these.

All I can do is advise you to go through this process, but do not accept that there may be no fault found if it has to be taken in for repair. In my situation I ended up contacting Samsung H.O. and dealing with a senior manager their after being given the run around by the customer support staff. They are better now though - thank God.

Good Luck.

All I can advise you is to either contact Samsung direct ( or if you have already done this - I am not sure ) contact Consumer Direct - you can get the details from their website. They offer free advice as a goverment funded organisation about your rights as a consumer.

As I see it you do not have to accept the response you have been given.

Good Luck.

Re: Samsung HT-TZ215 "protect" problem

Samsung reply

With regards to your recent query on the Home Cinema System, when you
get a 'Protection' message on your unit it usually means the unit is
overheating. Please make sure there is nothing blocking the air vents on
the unit, nothing is sitting on top of the unit and that it is not near
any hot items like radiators. Please also check the cables that connect
the speakers, disconnect them all, reconnect, turn the unit off and back
on. If you have checked all of the above and the same thing still
happens, try resetting the unit, full instructions can be found in the
troubleshooting part of the user guide. Where did you purchase the
product?

Re: Samsung HT-TZ215 "protect" problem

Give them the info they ask for, check what they say to check & reset as requested. If it still aint right go back to them.
Dont just put up with it if it is causing yo agro. It is up to you to keep complaining, I know it should not be like this but thats the way it is with Samsung.
If you get nowhere then contact Samsung H.O. and ask to speak to a customer service manager, but you do need to do what they ask you to do first to add power to your complaint.
Good Luck.

Re: Samsung HT-TZ215 "protect" problem

dont tell them what you know about it, and dont tell them you have opened it up...warranty void.
explain its been tested, and as a suggestion, a capacitor may be at fault..electrically speaking..

Re: Samsung HT-TZ215 "protect" problem

they should take it away(at no cost to you, as its faulty), and try to repair it.
if they cant, they may offer a replacement, then again, they may try the "3 times" repair, before they offer anything.
