Please help, ps3 conundrum

Hi, I have a ps3 which I use to watch blu rays, and a 37" samsung lcd tv but desperately want to improve sound quality. I have previously had a all in one system with DTS which was awesome and wanted better picture, hence using the PS3 for blu ray.
I now am stuck between the onkyo htx 22 hd speaker system (although now v rare, so unsure if I will be able to get one, apparantly theyre discontinued?!) but space is of a premium, or a soundbar (but has to be no more than 80cm to fit on the tv stand) or a reciever and speakers combo. - not ideal as recievers in my budget tend to be big bulky affairs.
To make life harder im on a tight budget of £375 max.
I have seen some cracking looking kenwood speakers which i cant find any reviews for, the KENWOOD KS-5200HT set.
What would other people do?
Please help. Thanks

Re: Please help, ps3 conundrum

seriously, rethink the whole soundbar/ 2.1 system..
for blu-rays,anything less than a decent 5.1 system(without HD audio, if you must),or one with the ability to accept LPCM from the ps3 is a crime against audio, when it comes to the ps3/blu-ray.
the onkyo is a buzzer, its flawed, and they dont seem to be doing much to rectifiy it, so its no wonder if its discontinued, as well as the inability to be able to purchase the extra speaker packs.

soundbars are ok at front sound and bass, but IMO, their surround effects stink.

there are 5.1 systems out there, like the sony's or even another branded AIO, that are slim, and plenty of topics here to get started with.

Thanks yes I think you're definately right with the 5.1 option. I have my eyes on the JVC TH-L1, think this is a better option at a good price. If price was no object, it may be a different story, but price is an object sadly.

Thanks again

Htsf1300, htss1300, htddwg800 - all 5.1ch systems that take LPCM over hdmi - meaning hd audio from ps3. Plenty of inputs for other stuff too, and within your budget.

Re: Please help, ps3 conundrum

Yep defo look at the Sony HS-SF1300. I am usually impatient and jump into ordering the first thing i see, however i re-searched this thoroughly and decided the ONLY 1 for my £350 budget would be the Sony.

I ordered it yesterday and should recieve it in 5 working days from Ebay.

I have sky HD which cannot doesnt broadcast HD audio, just DD 5:1 on SOME channels and a PS3.

I needed something with at leat 3 HDMI inputs and 1 output which the Sony has, this means that everthing connects directly to the amp and then just 1 HDMI from amp to TV. I heard the sound quality in a Sony Center and OMG what a difference to hear TrueHD sound.

Re: Please help, ps3 conundrum

Don't forget you need to connect skyhd to the system with optical for 5.1ch - sky only outputs stereo over hdmi.
