looking for an all in one system instead of seperates

Hi,

So ive been toying with the idea of getting an amp, speakers and cables seperatley. I can see this costing me between £600-£700, which as im moving out in about a month, realistically i shouldnt buy!

Well, i know i have the option of an all in one system! Which i have now turned my interest too.

Basically my set up at the moment is...

Toshiba 32XV555DB
Toshiba XD-E500 (upscaling dvd player)
PS3
Sky+HD (getting this when we move in)

im looking for an all in one system that doesnt have dvd/blu ray as i dont need it. my budget is probably a maximum of £400. anyone got any suggestions/recommendations?

one last question, will the all in systems come with speaker cables?

thanks!

Htddwg800, htsf1300, htss1300

all 5.1ch amp & speakers systems that take uncompressed audio (lpcm) over hdmi - meaning hd audio from ps3. Plenty of inputs for other stuff too.

And yes, speaker cable is included.

Hope that helps

Re: looking for an all in one system instead of seperates

Have a Sony HTSS1000 & just bought a HTSS1300 for my second system as I've been so impressed with the Sony All-In-One.

You might find the HTSS1300/HTSF1300 difficult to find (got mine 2nd hand) but the HTSF2300 is still readily available (same as 1300 series but different styling on the AMP and more expensive just for that).

The HTSS is the version with speakers that sit on shelves or can be mounted on a wall. The HTSF version are the ones with the tall speaker stands (more expensive).

Re: looking for an all in one system instead of seperates

Just ordered the Sony HT-FS1300 from Pixmania.com. I went through Quidco and got £10.39 cash back as well as using the cash off code on the Pixmania site when I ordered it. With deliver minus the cash back I paid £315 and change. I went for this as I've just bought a Samsung 40" lcd and BD player. Looking forward to watching my first film when it's set up.

Re: looking for an all in one system instead of seperates

does anyone know when the HT-SS230 comes out? I can see it on the sony website (HT-SS2300 (HTSS2300) : Home Cinema and Hifi : Sony), cant see it anywhere to buy though?!

i think i prefer the SS rather than the SF. i quite like the HTDDWG800, but im not 100% on the brown.

Re: looking for an all in one system instead of seperates

the 2300 isnt a "new" model, as its been out for nearly a year.
its a £100 dearer version of the 1300's, and the only difference is a blue fascia to match their blu-ray players(which incidentally dont come with blue fascias any more).

to be honest, theres nothing in the difference of sound either between SS,and SF.
and the 800 is a cracking sounding unit, and sounds far better than the 1300, due to better speakers, possibly vastly different internals, and a self powered subwoofer.

i cant find the HT-SS230 anywhere! i can find the SF version but not the SS.

i hear with the HTDDWG800 that you can upgrade the speakers? but with the SS, SF, you cant? or have i been told wrong?

Re: looking for an all in one system instead of seperates

Yes that's correct. The htddwg800 has an active sub, usually all in ones have a passive sub. This means the htddwg800 is one of the few all in ones with which upgrading the speakers is quite easy to do.
