HELP! Want a DVD/VHS combo with all formats?

Hey everybody,

Due to a power surge my DVD/VHS combi has gone pop and I can't find a good search engine to look for what I need so hopefully you guys can help me instead.

What I am after is a DVD/VHS combi with the following features;
Must haves
-Multi Region DVD
-Ability to play VCD, DivX, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+ and DVD- R/RW etc (all disc types really, my other one doesn't like one type of DVD which is a bit annoying).

Nice if it hads
-Front sockets for crappy plug in TV game thingies.

Don't need a HD or any form of Freeview built in so hopefully this should be a nice and easy thing to find for a reasonable price. My TV has got quite a few spare sockets to choose from so can accept HDMI, Component and Scart.

Although it may look like I'm being lazy I'm just having trouble finding something that can do everything while being multi region and you guys are the experts and have no doubt been in a similar situation.

thanks lancerumbolt for posting. I looked into that model and "The DMP-EZ48V models can record and play back DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW*, +R, +R DL, and +RW discs" which is great but I couldn't see anything with regard to DivX playback or multi-region. Did you see whether it could do that?

The DVD recorder option and freeview tuner would never be used so maybe there is a model below?

Comet - Home Entertainment - DVD Recorders and Home Cinema - PANASONIC - Digital dvd recorder and vcr

...apparently there is no DivX playback. Still no info on Multi-region which is a must.

Looks like the search goes on :-(

The DMREZ48 does not support DivX but can be multi-regioned with a remore control hack.

That's a little bit more like it thankyou. Fingers crossed there is a multi-region code for it and this should do the trick.

Like you I still have some VHS so for the time being I will need a combi. This will allow me to move over my VHS to DVD which is handy plus it also plays just about everything I need.

No problem. By the way it rather bizarrely upscales VHS through the HDMI !
