My Samsung HT-250X is not playing any DVDs

I need your help and advice…

A few months back, my Samsung HT-250X (now 14 months old) started playing up by becoming Region 1 for some reason. I found out how to reset it back to normal, and it worked all good. Until today.

Yesterday I was watching a DVD with no issues at all. This morning, went to stick on Ice Age to keep the little one amused and it wouldn't play. Did not recognise that there was a disc in the unit at all. Ejected it, and stuck in the DVD I watched yesterday - same problem. Did the reset and still no joy.

Losing the plot with Samsung - their items may look pretty, but I have never had these problems with Panasonic or Sony. (see another thread where my LCD went into shop mode for no apparent reason)

Aaaand relax…

Anyway, what are my options? Unit no longer under warranty.

If I get a new all in 1 system, the speakers are wasted - the Samsung ones work fine, just the DVD part of it is screwed.

If I had a new AV receiver and DVD player, can it be used with the Samsung speakers, and the subwoofer, or would that be a particularly bad idea?

Are there other options out there - a simple replacement for the main unit of the HT-250X?

Seems to be something every week going wrong at the moment

Your speakers will work with a new AV receiver and DVD player but not the Sub. Although the old speakers are not really suitable they would cope at low volumes until you can afford to replace them. But by investing in a new AV receiver and DVD player at least in the future if one part fails you change that only, not the whole system.

Thought as much.

Dammit. The joys of an all in 1 system - 1 small part stops working and the entire thing is fit for the bin despite working fine.

Can't see a new system on the cards at the moment so will have to do without DVDs for a while
