Sony HT-SS1300/SS2300 or HT-IS100

Hello all
I am thinking about getting surround system (no dvd/blu ray player as have a PS3). I have been through as many of the treads on this page but have not seen anyone compare HT-SS1300/SS2300 vs HT-IS100.

Can you please advice me as to which one is better / worth getting?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Sony HT-SS1300/SS2300 or HT-IS100

probably down to the fact that no-one has both systems to compare with.
and to be honest, they are two totally different systems.

Re: Sony HT-SS1300/SS2300 or HT-IS100

RottenFox
Thanks for getting back to me.
Being completely new to this but are they both not Home cinema systems (excluding the DVD/blu-ray player)? i.e. both used as an amp with speakers for 5.1 digital surround sound?

Is if possible for someone to explain what the difference is between the 2 products?

If i was to look for a surround system to connect a PS3 and Sky HD (albeit all the complications with Sky HD connections), should i be looking to get the SS13/2300 or IS100?

Re: Sony HT-SS1300/SS2300 or HT-IS100

yes they are both home cinema systems, but both slightly different.
the HT-SF1300/2300 is an amp/speakers pack, with tall floor standing speakers, and seperate subwoofer.
the HT-SS models are the same amp,but with smaller satellite speakers, ideal for placing on different stands or wall mounting.
the IS100 is a sub/amp with tiny golf ball speakers, which are essentially tweeters only, so subwoofer placement is essential(basically a system for people who want speakers to be as invisible as possible, like the ladies! )

as for the differences, check each thread, and also really have a look at sony's website, for pictorial difference to each.
to compare each sonically though, would require someone to have or have had both, and even then the view might be subjective.
