nEW SURROUND SET UP WITH AMP - RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE

I have just replaced my old AV set up:

Had:

LG 42" plasma HD ready TV
Marantz upscaling DVD player
Sky+

Now have:

Panosonic 42" Full HD TV
Panosonic BD 35 Blue Ray Player
Sky HD

I know need to look at the sound.

I have been using a Yamaha YSP 1000 soundbar s the wife isnt keen on cables or lots of box's. Its OK but nothing special, but it needs replacing as it has no HDMI in or out.

In not adverse to another soundbat like the YSP 4000, but as its £700+ and needs a sub (that I dont have at present) and the wife seems to be giving on SMALL speakers (shes not adverse to the Bose systems though there way too expensive) I think I can do better.

It must have 2 HDMIs in (for Sky and Blueray) but doesnt need any players on board. Suggestions for All in ones, seperates, or soudbars are welcome.

Budget? well I have two.

1. £300 as I can do that now
2. Up to £1000 as a longer term goal (Ill keep with the YSP 1000 till then)

Whichever system I get MUST do HD sound, and be an improvement over my existing Yamaha. It must also handle music as we use the AV system for both audio and visual.

Many thanks

Oh - anyone tell me if its worth keeping th eMarantz DVD player as my CD spinner or will the Panny Blue Ray be fine.

Hi Paul

How about this, It is a little over your intial budget, but you can make the rear speakers wireless with the addition of a S-Air box. The sepakers are very discreet something along the lines of bose but not at the price. hope this helps.

You don't really need a HDMI input for SkyHD on any surround system as it only outputs stereo over HDMI, for the 5.1 audio you need to use a optical (or digtial coax, if available) connection from SkyHD to an amp.
