Question Help please! This is driving me nuts!! Tosh 32AV554DB and Sony davdz260

Hi all, I'm new to the forums so I'll start with a cheery hello

I have recently bought a Toshiba 32AV554DB TV and a Sony davdz260 cinema system. I also have a pace sky digibox and a xbox 360. Now, When I use the Sony to Play a DVD I can hear it through the Sony speakers no problem. The thing is, I would like to connect the xbox and digibox to the tv and hear the sound through the sony speakers. My tv had 3 scart inputs 2 hdmi, a PC input and a headphone out. I currenly have it connected to the sony via scart.

As far as I can make out my tv has no output except the headphone out and the Sony has no inputs apart from a coax or digital in.

Does anyone have a similar setup. This is dementing me. How can I get it to work?!?!

connect the xbox 360 with an optical audio cable to the 260.
and if the pace box has red/white analogue audio outs, then connect that to the 260's front 3.5mm socket with a 2 phono-3.5mm lead.

you can go faffing about with scarts from your tv,to the scart on the 260 for audio from your tv, but i would connect the sky/digibox first..
also,if the pace box,has optical out, then you could use that too, but you might be better off with an optical switch,if you plan on connecting 2 or more items to the sony.

The pace doesn't have an optical out...or phono out as far as I can recall...just scart.

The 360 to the 260 can be done easily. It's more the sky box I was hoping for. Is there not a way that I can get my tv to output, via scart, the audio of all the devices connected to it, to the 260?

I'm fairly inexperienced at all this as you can probably tell I would have thought however that a basic requirement of an all in one home cinema box would be that you could connect it to output the sound of your tv as well as using it for playing DVDS. If we were to remove that 360 and skybox from the equation how would I get the sony to play my tv through the speakers??

Re: Help please! This is driving me nuts!! Tosh 32AV554DB and Sony davdz260

well, an item such as the 260 model you have,is limited in what it does/can do, and as such the basic requirement is for it to play movies through its own speakers.
anything else it can do is a bonus, to be honest.
its not really full of connectivity, nor is it designed to be upgraded, really.

as to your issue with your digibox, i would say connect it to the tv, with scart, and then you would have to connect another scart from tv, to the sony, following the info in your sony manual,on how to get audio this way, which you can do.(although some tv's dont allow this).
most digiboxes have audio outs though, so in this case, thats another hurdle for you, with it not having these,if it did, it would be a lot easier, and tidier.

So d'ya reckon it's possible to get the audio from the tv to the 260 via the scart it's already connected with? That's the question.... I mean, say if I had a DVD recorder or something, how would I send the signal to the recorder from my TV?? I've been trying to get the Sony to broadcast the audio from the TV and as yet haven't been able to do it. Thanks again RottenFox

So, does anyone know if it is possible to get the audio FROM the Tv via the scart and into the 260

like i say, connect the 260 with hdmi, to the tv, and connect the scart from the 260 into the tv also..
then you need to change the input on the 260 from dvd to tv,or something like that.
it may or may not work, as some tv's dont allow this, but with your kit not having the right connections/being limited, its the best you can do.

Once you connect up a HDMI cable the Dav's scart connector changes from output to input. You now need a phono cable to scart adapter(one with a input/output switch works better).Connect the red and white leads to the TV's audios out and the scart to the Dav.

The tv doesn't have an audio out except for a headphone out as far as I can see. Two of the scart connections on the back of the TV are input/ouput though...would this do?

Thanks for the reply

yeh, they should do, and a scart - scart will do the same job..
some tv's allow it, some dont..try it, and change the 260 to "tv" mode, and see if it works.
