Home Cinema System Set-Up/Recommendation

I have an HD Samsung Tv.
A Sony PS3
A laptop with dvi output.
And an ipod.
I'm looking for a home cinema system for christmas and i have no idea if i can hook up all of these with one. Im assuming i can hook up the ps3/laptop by using HDMI cables.... but then how does the TV recognise them? Also how does the system connect to the TV?
In addition to these questions can anyone recommend a system which does all the above for £250 or below?

Thanks

Re: Home Cinema System Set-Up/Recommendation

I actually have no idea what your asking. You want to connect your ps3 and laptop via hdmi, and you dont know how your tv will recognise them?! huh?!

And how does the system connect?? As you would expect. PS3-tv via hdmi. Laptop- TV via DVi-HDMI lead. Ipod-Laptop.

And with that in mind, what system are you looking for to spend £250 as all that will work on its own????

It would be even easier had you posted this in the correct section, so moved to all in ones for you

Re: Home Cinema System Set-Up/Recommendation

Sorry i realise it has all been worded wrong.
If i connect my ps3 and laptop to my tv then connect a home cinema sytem to my tv, will all of these work with surround sound? Also are there any systems which allow me to connect my ipod not via my laptop. And what one would you recommend for under £250?

Re: Home Cinema System Set-Up/Recommendation

Your TV in that situation from my understanding would only be outputting stero sound not 5.1

You will need to connect the PS3 and your laptop directly to the amp to get surround sound though the thing is i'm not sure what outputs your laptop has.

My suggestion is to have a look at the Sony HT DDWG800 thread in this section as I think it will do exactly what you need and it is also within budget. What you can do is connect your PS3 via HDMI to the AMP then a HDMI cable to your TV. If you want your iPod playing through your amp then I suggest investing in a 3.5" to 2 phono cable and using one of the audio inputs in the back on the amp.
