Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

Hi all,,
Been a very long time since i needed to post on here and to be honest, i even forgot you were still going, , am sure glad you are

Dont know if there is an answer to this one, but, its worth a try.

I have a 32" panasonic viera lcd tv and a panasonic home theatre system (SA-PT550). Also connected up is a sony playstation 3 and a sky+ digibox.

Whenever i turn on the tv, digibox and theatre system each morning the system automatically sets itself to "BIN ". This means that each morning, i first have to scroll thru the dvds menu to set the tv to aux, , then once the picture appears, i then have to scroll thru again, to set the sound to aux, from bin.

Is there any way to reset these defaults so that when i turn the system on, it automatically sets itself to aux for both the picture and the sound.
Its a right pain in the ass going thru this every morning, , and the same when i put in a dvd to watch, or when i want to play the playstation 3.

The digibox is connected to aux1 via scart cable , the dvd theatre system to HDMI 1 and the playstation to HDMI 2.

I use the dvd/theatre system remote for all functions such as volume etc,, apart from sky remote for changing channels.

Would make a refreshing change to tun on the sky box in the morning, and then using the dvds remote, turn on the tv (onto aux) and then turn on the theatre system (onto aux), , would be nice and i am sure there is a way round this that i cant see for the life of me.
As usual, all the respective manuals have no helpful information in them regarding changing the defaults and of course, i cant afford to get a tv tech guy to come and set it all up for me either.

Anyway, , what is "BIN " ??

Hope someone can shed some light on this issue for me, ,
Many thanks, kev

Re: Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

if you switch on the tv,and sky box only..do you get picture and sound?
as you dont mention a connection to the surround system with sky..so whats the point of switching on the surround,if this is the case??
swap the surround system to hdmi 2,and ps3 to 1 and give that a try.

but viera link/hdmi control is over-rated,and you might be better off with a harmony remote, rather than using the surrounds remote.
and are you sure its BIN,and not D-IN.

Re: Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

Hi there,Thanks for your input, ,

If i just turn on the tv and sky box, then the picture comes on straight away, but no sound cos the dvd/surround sound is turned off.
As soon as i turn on the dvd/surround system the picture goes and i then have to scroll thru the remote to find AV1 to get the picture, , then scroll thru the sound options to get to aux.

Yes you are right, , it is DIN not bin ( how could i be so stupid )..

Surely there is a way to turn the dvd/surround system on and get it to start on AV1 instead of HDMI 1, , and DIN as the default sound, , meaning more scrolling.

I would like to turn on the tv, sky box and dvd system at the same time and have it default to AV1 for the picture and AUX for the sound.

I have taken the tvs remote completly out of the picture altogether as it was just complicating things further, so i only use the sky remote for changing channels, and the dvd systems remote for changing from din to aux, and obviously for changing over to HDMI 2 for the playstation and for turning on /off the tv and dvd system.
When i put a dvd in, it automatically defaults to HDMI 1 for dvd and i just have to press the " one touch play 2 button and the sound and picture come on at once.

Its all very complicated and surely there must be an easier way of doing things than constantly scrolling thru menus to get the picture back, and to find the correct sound source.

Re: Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

right,it sounds like your tv defaults to hdmi 1,when the surround is on..which most panasonics do.
for what you want to do, i think the only way is to get rid of viera link/hdmi control, and use the tv remote again.

swap the surround to hdmi 2,as i said earlier, and see if this stops it switching over,as with some pannys, hdmi 1 will auto sense.
it may be in the tv menu somewhere,it may not,and also,it may give you an option to select AV1 when switched on at first(mine does, it allows me to pick what it sets when at startup - AV)
is sky connected to the surround system in any way?
if its not,why do you need the surround on aux?

i still say, your easiest way is to get a harmony remote,as this should stop whats happening.
viera link/hdmi control is great on paper, but in reality its a pain,as you are finding out.

Re: Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

Heyyyy , ,Thats the trick, ,

I swapped round the HDMI cables and now when i turn all 3 on, they default to the digibox and no need to start scrolling for sound options cos they all default to aux.
I " think " the problem is solved, , would still be nice to do it all from one remote though, , whats this harmony remote you have mentioned ? ?

Re: Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

Hi all,

I have a very simular problem. I have samsung tv and samsung home cinema system. On the ext1 i have the tv/sky via scart and on ext2 i have the dvd via scart. The problem i have is that when ever i change to aux2 to get the sky/tv through the surround sound system the visual feed (sky/ext1) comes up with no signal. Unless i press the source button on the tv remote i dont get the visual feed.

I have tried changing the dvd and sky ext over and the same occurs. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens or even better how to cure the problem. Will using a HDMI lead cure the problem? I dont know anything about them but noticed it mentioned on this forum.

Please help.

Re: Any way to set audio defaults on my system ?

it was a different issue, as the panasonics have auto switchover on hdmi1.
you are connecting with scart,so unless swapping the scarts around helps,or swapping inputs on the surround system, then theres not much an hdmi lead will do either.
