Sony DAV-DZ860W Problem

I've recently delved into home cinema and I'm having a little problem you can hopefully help with. My setp is as folows:

Sony KLD-46W4000 TV
Sony DAV-DZ860W (rear speakers are wireless connecting through Sonys S-Air system)
Sky HD Box.

The TV is connected to Sky with an HDMI cable.
The DZ860W is connected to the TV with an HDMI cable
The Sky box is connected to the DZ860W with a digital optical cable.

The system works fine when I'm watching Sky, I can watch for hours and the connection to the rear speakers is stable, but when I try to watch a 5.1 dvd the connection to the back speakers drops out. The connection picks up again if I switch back to TV.

I have tried the various trouble shooting ideas in the manual but to no avail. I was hoping you guys could shed some light on the situation

Re: Sony DAV-DZ860W Problem

Hello there

I havent got my Satellite reciever connected, but I am getting problems with the rear speakers dropping out with the S-Air system. It was fine initially, then just lost connection and I, like yourself have tried to fix it with re-syncing etc... but to no avail.

I am starting to wonder if there is a fault with the S-Air system in this model. I hope not.

Do you know if there is a multiregion code for this model, as I am now realising how many discs I had that are not region 2

Re: Sony DAV-DZ860W Problem

Well I managed to fix my problem by relocating the S-Air amplifier (across the room and slightly closer to the main unit) and setting RF Change to On in System Tools.

It seems that S-Air is susceptible to interference from other wi-fi systems and in the amps old location my wifi router was screwing with the signal. I now have a pretty stable conection with the surround speakers, and the sound is just great

Sorry - cant help you with the multiregion code

Smile Re: Sony DAV-DZ860W Problem

cheers for the sugestion on the s-air solution, I'll try it and see what happens.

It looks like I'll have to get my unit hardware modded If I want multi-region.

thanks again
