put it this way, at £250 for all the features and quality of the brand, the sony ht-ddwg800 is a bargain for many of those including me that bought it at that particular time over the past few months
personally i didn't really have a budget, just that i did not want to overspend so i was pleasantly surprised when i first saw the price of the ddwg800 along with all the functions...

your turntable phonos can go into the SA-CD/CD inputs on the back and you are all set.
just a question your pc is carrying both audio and video through HDMI? if so then i think all should be good but if it is just video then you got to think about how you plan to deal with the pc audio
component to component cables easily find them on ebay

It's the same with mine - it never used to do this with the PS3 connected directly to my 50PZ80 plasma.
Griz managed to get a replacement, but he said the new unit displayed the same fault. Maybe the issue lies elsewhere?
Lucaballa, what TV do you have?

Lucaballa, what TV do you have? | Like Visor said I got my unit replaced from the retail store - tested immediately and the problem was still there. I have a Panasonic 50PZ800 so I think the problem lies with a HDMI conflict between the DDWG800 and 50PZ800. I never had a problem with the PS3 direct to the plasma - I suspect the receiver is at fault and is sending the incorrect signal.
I have not had the problem much recently, and when it does happen either cycling the receiver inputs or turning the screen off then on (which causes the receiver to resync the HDMI signal) will fix the problem. I have decided to live with the problem, even though it is annoying. I am unhappy that using all new HDMI 1.3 spec devices still ends up with HDMI connectivity problems
Would be interesting to know if anyone else is using PS3 / DDWG800 (or other sony receiver) / panasonic PZ80 (or PZ800) series plasma and if they are having problems too??

hi there everyone just received my new system this week and so far very inpressed with it. Just a few questions to see if im getting the best from it. I have it rigged up to my samsung series 6 tele through hdmi .my ps3 is connected to reciever in same way. sky+ is by scart to tele and optical to reciever. i also have a wii which is just connecyted to the tv at the mo.
Is it possible to connect the wii to this system for both image and sound if so what is the best way.
What are the best settings for this system in concern to sky+ and my ps3 so i am getting the best from them.
Also in my opinion the sub doesnt seem as bassy as it should even wen it is fully turned up .Is there something im doing wrong.
And finally is it possible to change channels using the remote. just now all i can do is get the sound but not the image using the reciever remote. so wen i use either sky or my ps3 i have to change channel with tele remote then select the sound using the reciever remote.
Any advice assistance would be much apprecieted
Cheers

I've installed the system this morning and am very happy with it Both the HDX-1000 mediacenter and Xbox360 work perfectly with the optical in connections. I've watched The Island in 1080p with DTS and was very, very impressed by the system. Excellent bang for the buck!
Thanks for the advice and many thanks to the threadstarter for the excellent review!

Just wanted to confirm before I purchase so, I can get the cables at the same time.
Hooking this up to SKY HD and PS3, need an HDMI for each to the Amp then one to the TV, also can I use an Optical cable from each device to the amp for Audio?
Also, how vital is the speaker positioning, as the shape and layout of my lounge does not really lend itself to exact 'four corners' positioing?
Thanks

R4z | HDMI as far as i'm aware will carry both audio and video so no need for hdmi and optical.
As for speaker positioning, i'd just experiment with your room layout and try to get the best out of your room layout.
