all in one with Optical Audio input for £150
Hi
Am just about to buy a Panny 42PX80 plasma and want to get a dvd cinema setup to go with it. I would like to be able to play Tv through the surround system and would appreciate any recommendations on all-in-one solutions which offer Optical Audio input (im pretty sure the PX80 has optical audio out).
I dont want to spend too much and to be honest am no expert when it comes to sound quality so just looking for something about £150 which will allow good sound from DVD and my freeview playing through the 42PX80
Any recommendations greatly received.
Thanks
Chris

How about £180? That would get you a Sony HT-SS1100, if you can find one. Other than that I'm not sure if there's anything for £150 presuming you want 5.1 surround. Could try second hand.

Hi Stefnar
Not too bothered about full 5.1 surround - just looking for good sound really do you have any other recommendations
cheers

TBH not for that price, although someone may know of others. Have you got a stereo amplifier? if you have, why not connect to your tv with phono cables that at least would give you boosted 2.1 sound.

Hi
no i dont have a stereo amplifier. I do however have a Wharfedale LP160DTR freeview recorder which on the back has a connector that says optical out. Would this be digital output from the freeview and if so could i use this to plug directly into the all in one system ?
cheers

Re: all in one with Optical Audio input for £150
I can't find an optical output from this TV and you don't need one. You usually go from DVD Player to Amp, or Skybox to Amp, Freeview to amp. The TV will probably output sound in Stereo anyway, so all you need for £150 is a hifi.

Re: all in one with Optical Audio input for £150
thanks guys
Bought a Samsung HT Z310 which has hd upscaling and optical in so should do the trick if i can get the settings correct. Im just using scart at the moment and the PQ watching a DVD on my 42PX80 is rubbish. I will try an hdmi cable to see if it improves PQ if not i'll need to get back on here for more advice. After advice from on here im really impressed with freeview PQ on the panny !
cheers
