Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250

Hi
I'm having a few problems getting my new cinema system set up. I have connected the home entertainment to the TV by HDMI, Sky HD by HMDI. I can get the system working well playing a DVD but the sound does not come through the home cinema system whilst watching TV either via Sky or the aerial. Do I need a optical audio cable for this to work?
I'm also having problems connecting the anynet features. I phoned Samsung help line and they told me that the HMDI lead that is suplied with the home entertainment system is the wrong one to work with anynet.. It should be a 1.? instead of a 2.? HDMI lead.. Can this be right? When running the anynet scan it finds the system when the sky HD is not connected by HDMI but doesn't when it is..
Any help much appreciated..

Re: Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250

to get audio through the surround, from sky,you need to connect an optical audio cable from skybox to surround system.
same with normal tv,you would have to connect an optical from tv,to surround,or better still, connect red/white phonos from tv's audio out,to the red/white audio in's on the surround,as normal tv/freeview will only be stereo only, and not surround.

what the guy might mean,is swap the connection on the tv,so just swap hdmi inputs,so sky will go into the other hdmi, and the surround, will go into sky's old hdmi input.
as for different leads,if your hdmi lead is transferring sound and video, without artifacts or problems, its doing its job,so he knows not of which he speaks.

If I connected the TV by phono leads and the SkyHD by optical audio would I receive surround sound through sky?
I have tried swapping the HDMI leads but still no joy. What advantages are there to this anynet? From what I see it just allows you to opperate the DVD player through the TV remote.. Won't all remotes allow you to do this..

You would receive 5.1 from the SkyHD box
You would stereo from the TV but the amp will process this into surround

Thanks for the info....... I've got some phono leads but will have to buy the optical audio lead and then I'll have another play. I'm well impressed with the picture and sound quality..
Any one know what the anynet advantages are and whether it's worth the hassle of buying another HDMI lead..

Re: Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250 Set up

I've got a optical audio lead now and I connected it from the home cinema to the skyHD box and the lip sync was wat out. I have know connected it directly to the TV which is better but not perfect.. Am I doing something wrong? It doesn't seem to be coming through as dolby either. The rear speakers work whilst watching a film on DVD but not through sky even though the film is listed as DD on the listing.. Any help very much apreciated... I can't get the anynet to work properly either.. I have used another HDMI lead as sumsung said I'd got the wrong one but still no joy.. When I scan for devices it will only find the home cinema if I disconect the skyHD HDMI lead from the TV..

Re: Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250 Set up

does sky, have any audio sync options?
also, have you set up sky audi correctly.
and on the surround, have you checked that for sync options/audio setup.

anynet is a waste of space,IMO.

Re: Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250

I have just spoken to Samsung who told me not to connect the home entertainment with the optical audio lead and just connect with phono leads as there is an on going problem with the lip sync through the optical audio. Not impressed as they are the ones that told me to get one to connect my TV.
If I connect through the TV the lip sync is not to bad to start with but it gets further and further out the longer you watch. Going through sky the lip sync is a good second out.. I've tried the lip sync in the sky audio setting but this made no difference. I cannot see anywhere in the audio menu that can alter the lip lync on the home entertainment centre..
They have booked a service call to sort out the anynet. I have other issues with the TV so hopefully they can sort that as well. The picture is very jerky on times. The banner on sky news at the bottom is unreadable on times as it shakes about. Also sometimes when watching sky the picture will go very snowy and goes in and out of focus until the signal is not received. First of all I thought it was my sky box but since I move the HDMI lead to the secound input it seems fine..

Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250

Have Samsung LE86 TV, hooked up as follows:

DVD Recorder HDMI 1
DVD/Home theater HDMI 2
Standard Sky box Scart 1

Digital optical OUT to home theatre.

All works well except, AV sync on home theatre gets steadily worse the longer its on when viewing Sky (Digital TV and Analogue are fine). I can get over this by using AV cable from Sky directly to the HT-X250

I just wondered if any of you technical guys, can tell me why this happens, is it a TV problem, Sky problem, or HT-250 problem. (All is fine on the TV internal speakers)

Thanks

Derek

Re: Samsung LE40M87BDX/Samsung HT-X250

There is a lip sync problem with all samasung home cinema systems I dont think it can be solved?

Also anynet will not work with sky hooked up via hdmi because the box will be blocking it or some such thing.

Sky never implemented this in their hdmi connection.

I am using a STANDARD SKY box no HDMI output, it is connected via scart. Analogue TV and Digital TV does not have a lip sync problem via OPTICAL, it is only SKY.

Connect the sky box via phonos (red/white) direct to amp and not use optical from amp

Have already done that (see my post),,,I just wondered if anyone with tech knowledge could explain why the problem occurs.

Its because the video and audio of the connected source ie Sky box is processed by the TV at a different rate, by going direct to amp with phonos usally solves this
