Help my folks get Cinema Sound
Firstly, appologies if this is in the wrong place, i'm sure a mod will move it if it is.
Secondly, my problem.
My Parents recently witnessed my surround sound setup and have decided that they would like something better than they currently have. However its a tricky one.
Their budget is £200 ( i can probably notch it up to £250)
They currently have a Sony CRT Widescreen TV.
Sky Plus and a Sony DVD Recorder (Sorry no model numbers at present)
It will probably be a while before the tv is upgraded so i dont think HDMI is a primary concern at the moment.
They'll need something that is easy, they will want a system that gives them the minimum hassle (ie they'd like to turn it on and it just works!)
So, in conclusion, i guess for the budget were looking at an all in one comet/currys type system. But i wonder if any of you guys could help with some sugestions of good kit for this budget?

Re: Help my folks get Cinema Sound
If they like Sony, have a look at the HT-SF1100 (amp/speakers). It's at the top end(ish) of your budget and doesn't come with a DVD, which they don't need. It has 2 optical and 1 digicoax in, which is the minimum you should look for. The Sony all-in-ones don't sound too bad. I would always recommend going for separates but you would need to up the budget.

Just a suggestion that fits your budget....
Yamaha RXV361 (£119.95 from Richer Sounds) 2 optical/1 coax
Yamaha NSP110 5.1 speaker package (£79.95 from RS again / £69.95 from Empire Direct)

I'd considered this, my parents aren't really technically minded would they cope with it, i guess they just want to be able to switch on the tv and have the sound there alreadt, ideally i dont want to burden them with remote controls.
