Help!! 5.1 / 6.1 All-in-one on a budget.

Hi,

Just convinced my better half that as part of the Living Room re-decorating, its time to replace the Samsung DVD Home Cinema system with a more-dedicated setup.

I'll have my Tosh HD-EP30 and Sky HD permenantly connected to it, and occasionaly my PS3 - therefore I'll need 2 (poss.3) Optical Ins. HDMI 2/1 switcher or 3/1 switcher would be nice, as it'll mean less cables to the TV

I don't mind wether it's a 5.1 or 6.1 setup, as long as they are satellite speakers that I can wall mount. As the rest of my kit is mainly black, I'd prefer if the receiver was the same (although silver isn't the end of the world).

Tricky part is my budget - I've got about £200 to spend I've been looking at the Sony HT-DDW790 (£169 at Play.com) but it's only got one optical in. The 890 is an option, but the wife isn't overly keen on the look of the speakers !!

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm going to be undertaking a pretty major job on the living room , so will post pictures in the DIY thread once it gets underway

Hi mate,

This optical switch:

and cables:

would be better to use with the option of what system you like.

Hope this helps

Just thought I'd point out that the Yamaha AV-3101 is sold as the AV61 here in the UK; basically a package of the RXV361 av receiver and NSP110 surround speaker package). The black version isn't sold here in the UK though.

However, based on your requirements it sounds like it may be worth you seeking out the Sony HTSS1200 (- 3 hdmi switched inputs able to take both sound and video for use with the PS3 and HD-EP30, hdmi plus optical input carrying surround sound for Sky HD plus a spare coax digital input). Stocks seem quite hard to find right now though - try your local Sony centre.
