Sony DAV-IS10 speaker cable question

Hi,
I currently have an old LG LH D6230 dvd and 5.1 surround soundsystem.Am looking to upgrade to the Sony DAV-IS10.All my old wiring to the rear speakers is run under the carpet. Will I be able to use the old wiring on the Sony rear speakers and will I need to get any connection adapters,or is it just a case of cutting the wires? I really don't want to have to rip the carpet up!

Also if I have to cut the wires, will I lose any sound quality?

You will just need to join the Sony plugs at the Sub connections, you wont lose sound quality

Re: Sony DAV-IS10 speaker cable question

Ok so I just cut the Sony wires and join them to my old LG wiring? Any type of connectors needed to join the wiring or will insulation tape do?

Yes that would suffice or you could use cable connectors that crimp up with a pair of pliers for a more secure join

Hi Simon

No need to cut and join as Kentish Lad suggests. You could use your old wiring.

You can remove the speaker cord from the connectors that go into the sub.

Best thing to do is download the instruction PDF file from Sony website.

RS4Fluff

PS I've got a copy of it if you can't find it.

Looking at the manual the connectors can be removed from the cable

Re: Sony DAV-IS10 speaker cable question

I understand the speaker wire that comes with the DAV-IS10 is 22 gauge wire. I have pre-existing 16 gauge wire already installed right where I want it to be.

I know I can remove the tab on the end and from the speaker.

My question is, will the speaker and the connection tab....and the wall mount support the width of a standard 16 gauge wire??

Side note: I am looking to buy the Sony 40W3000 and the DAV-IS10 along with a PS3.

Any advice on that setup?
